Parent Links

Below are some links to websites that we feel will assist childrens learning whilst at home & also help parents & carers understand how to ensure they remain safe whilst doing so.

CEOP

Child Explotation & Online Protection

Where do we start?

The internet has changed all of our lives, particularly our children’s. For parents and carers this opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

You might be struggling to keep up with the things your child is doing online, you might wonder whether what they are doing is safe, and you might also be thinking how can I be as good a parent online as I am offline?

This site aims to make online parenting simple.

Phonic Support

Parents are by far the most important people in helping children learn to read. Here you will find lots of information for parents about phonics including: what exactly phonics is, how it is taught in UK schools and suggestions for helping pre-schoolers prepare for learning phonics. You will also find lots of games and ideas to explore with children at home

Sum Maths

Sumdog's maths games are all free to play, whether you're at home or in school.

Most of Sumdog's games are multiplayer - which means you can choose to play against other Sumdog users around the world.

Although the games are all different, they all have one thing in common: you need to answer maths questions to make progress.

Each game can be used to practise any of Sumdog's topics - so you never need to be bored while practising your maths!

Educational Games

This site provides educational ICT activites linked to the English National Curriculum.

These games are generally targeted at infant school teachers and parents of infant age children.

Make life a lesson, parents advised

The National Association of Head Teachers report suggests parents should make time to plant seeds and watch them grow, look at the stars, make a tent, walk in a woodland or make a model. Click the image above for more information.

Supporting School Readiness

We know that home life has a big impact on educational attainment - so if a child comes to school without having had a good night’s sleep, or if they start the day on an empty stomach, this will have a negative effect on their ability to learn.

Together, we have produced a series of leaflets aimed at supporting parents, pupils and teachers to work together to ensure young people get the very best from their time at school. You can download the leaflets from the Family Action website by clicking the icon above.

Parent Info is a collaboration between CEOP and The Parent Zone.

The Parent Zone was founded in 2005 and has a track record of providing information, support and advice to parents. In recent years, The Parent Zone's work has focused on the impact of digital technologies on families. We provide information, resources and training for parents and those who work with them.
