Reception

 

Welcome back to the Reception classes in the Summer Term of 2016.

This term we welcome Miss Lynne Jones to the foundation team. She will be taking over from Mrs Osbourne and teaching in FHO.

Our topic for the term is Ground, Air and Water. In the first half of the term we will concentrate on the ground. We will all visit Shortwood Farm to look at the animals close at hand. We will be growing plants and looking at mini-beasts. We are hoping to have caterpillars in each classroom so that we can look at their life cycle and the release them as butterflies.

In Literacy, will use a different story book each week and the work we do will be based around the farm and mini-beasts.

In the second half of the term will be looking at Air and Water. The children will look at holidays, transport and how we use water.

Both classes will be leading separate class assemblies which you are invited to. We also have a Summer celebration picnic where you will have the opportunity to share your child’s learning journey with them and finally we will be holding our Sports Activity Afternoon.. Details of all of these events to follow.

General Reminders

PE for FLC and FHO is on Thursday mornings. Please make sure that your child has a full NAMED kit. Pumps are essential this term as we will be going outside to practise our sports day activities.

Reading – please continue to read with your child at least 5 times per week and write in their yellow diary. Regular practise is essential to develop your child’s reading skills and we will all see lots of progress if this happens. Children can also then gain a Rainbow Readers Certificate which they love receiving during our special assembly.
