Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Year 5 have had a very busy first half of the Spring term, working on Charlie and The Chocolate Factory for their Roald Dahl workshop, as well as preparing to perform live on Young Voices at the Genting Arena in Birmingham!

The year 5 children worked very hard learning all the songs and accompanying actions ready for their big performance at the Young Voices Concert in Birmingham in January. Along with around 6000 other school children from around the country, as well as some big names like Laura Wright (who sang at the opening of The Rugby World Cup here in 2015!), Tom Billington (the lead singer of Mohair and has toured with Razorlight!) and the Beatbox Collective (2015 World Beatbox Champions!), the children performed fantastically in the choir, pumping out some wicked beats and even cooler dance moves choreographed by Andy Instone (from Urban Strides, a world renowned street dance group). They enjoyed it all so much we have got Andy coming into the school in June so all of KS2 can get up and dance!

Both year 5 classes also performed wonderfully at the Courtyard later in January, splitting their Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Performance into two halves which gelled together excellently. They were on last and stole the show with their entertaining and professional approach, even getting a round of applause mid performance! They also got to have a backstage tour and various workshops as well as performing on the same size stage as in the West End!
