Special Educational Needs Coordinator

My name is Mrs Sarah Winwood. I have worked as SENCO at St Martin's Primary School since January 2013.  I have specialised in working with children with special needs and disabilities for over 14 years.

Prior to working at St Martin's I have worked as SENCO at two other schools and was an SEN Advisory Teacher for Durham Education Authority.  As a result I have experience of working with children with many different needs in a range of settings.

At St Martin's school I work closely with children, parents and school staff to ensure that all children, especially those with special needs and disabilities, become happy, confident individuals who achieve their best.

Teaching Assistants

Every class has a Teaching Assistant to support all children within the classroom. In addition to this we have eight teaching assistants who are specifically employed to support those children who have special educational needs requiring a higher level of support.

School Governors

The school governors monitor SEN provision offered by the school.  Mr Alan Hardwicke is the Governor responsible for Special Educational Needs.

If you would like to find out more about SEN at St Martin’s or you are concerned about your child's provision please contact Mrs Winwood on the school number 01432 273633. She is available in school all day Monday and Wednesday; and Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
